NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — An elementary school principal was punched by the parent of a student at the school Wednesday.

The Philadelphia Police Department reported the incident at Robert Pollock Elementary School on Welsh Road around 12:30 p.m.

Two parents tried to remove their child from an end of the year celebration, but they got into an altercation with a vice principal about not following the proper sign-out procedure.

The school's principal tried to intervene and was punched by the child's father.

Both principal and vice principal suffered minor injuries.

The father is expected to face charges.
