PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — On what would have been his 60th birthday, Federal Donuts is honoring Prince with a sparkly purple donut.

The classic cake donut — coated in a vanilla lavender glaze and sprinkled with purple sugar — first debuted as a tribute upon his passing.

Federal Donuts hopes to serve it all day long, but it is first come, first served.

The "Purple Rain" doughnut will be sold at all five locations in Philadelphia. The doughnut costs $2.75 for one, $13 for a half dozen and $24 for a dozen.

The South Street Cinema is also hosting a "Purple Rain" sing-along Friday night. Fans are encouraged to wear purple attire.

The late musician's estate announced a new album will be released on Sept. 21. The first single from the album is a cover of "Mary Don't Weep."
