PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The latest iPhones are on sale. The lines outside Apple stores are shorter than in years past, but there are still many who couldn't wait.

Those who did queue up early Friday morning outside the Apple store at 16th and Walnut streets were eager to get their hands on the iPhone XS and the bigger $1,100 XS Max.

The new phones have a sharper display, more powerful camera and four built-in microphones for stereo video recording.

Drexel student Bill Sauer says he's due for an upgrade.

"I was already excited about the 10 one, but it was way too expensive for me. I have the 6 and it's pretty bad now. So after four years, I decided to buy a new one," he said.

He said he's heading to New York and he wanted the latest phone so that he could take better pictures.

Lance, from China, also said he was eager to replace his iPhone 6.

"I still wanted it, because it's the latest version of iPhone. But I'm surprised there are not so many people this year," he said.
