Fire breaks out in Philly's Spring Garden neighborhood

January 30, 2019 - 4:43 pm

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A wind-fueled fire is now under control in the Spring Garden neighborhood.

Fire crews took about an hour to extinguish the blaze, which started around 4 p.m.

Flames could be seen from all sides of the building, leaping from the roof of a four-story brick building on the 1300 block of Buttonwood Street.

Nobody was believed to be inside.

Spring Garden Street was blocked in both directions between Broad and 12th streets as about a dozen emergency response vehicles were positioned in case the fire took a turn for the worse.

CORRECTION: This story has been updated to identify the intersection as 13th and Buttonwood streets.
