PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — With Thanksgiving fast approaching, Philadelphia officials are getting ready for the annual Holiday Fest. They announced some of the free family activities at a Friday news conference in City Hall.

City Rep Sheila Hess and Visit Philly chief Jeff Guaracino gave a small preview of the New Year's Eve fireworks that will cap the five-week festival. It officially starts with the 99th Thanksgiving Day parade, and includes the Christmas Village in LOVE Park, the City Hall light show, the Holiday Market in Dilworth Park and a refurbished carousel in the City Hall courtyard.

A lot of it is packed in to a concentrated area, but Guaracino says it's appropriate.

"If you think about all of City Hall, which represents our entire great city, all of our neighborhoods, everything that happens here in the center, it radiates out," he said.
