PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The West Chester University football team will look to stay undefeated on Saturday when the Golden Rams visit East Stroudsburg in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference game.

West Chester is coming off a rare bye week. The Golden Rams had Cheyney on the schedule originally for last weekend, but it became an open date when the Wolves dropped their program.

West Chester head coach Bill Zwaan spoke about how they handled the time off.

"I thought we did a really nice job," he said. "Our kids really approached the bye week really well. We wanted to get back to basics in a lot of ways. We had a couple of really enthusiastic practices during the bye week."

The Golden Rams have enjoyed a fine season to this point. They are 6-0 overall, and their 3-0 PSAC East record has them tied for first with Kutztown in the division.

East Stroudsburg is just 1-6 (0-4 PSAC East), but it isn't hard to envision a scenario where they have a much better record — their last four losses have come by a combined 14 points.

"They are a good offensive football team, like East Stroudsburg teams seem to always be," Zwaan said. "They can score points, they've got a really good scheme, they always have had a good scheme. So from a defensive standpoint, it worries you."

Zwaan says the Warriors have a very special talent in redshirt senior running back Jaymar Anderson.

"He can go to the house like he did against Bloomsburg last week from 75 yards," he said. "So you've got to tackle him. He's a big guy, and he runs fast."

Anderson has rushed for 812 yards and nine touchdowns this season for ESU.

Last year, these two teams met in West Chester with the Golden Rams earning a 31-26 win.

Saturday's game in East Stroudsburg gets underway at 4:05 p.m.
