PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Germantown-based nonprofit that helps businesses expand is celebrating 20 years, and will celebrate the milestone next week, focused on innovation.

"What I want people to realize is, we are still inventors. They still exist," said Pamela Rich-Wheeler, founder and executive director of The Business Center. The group works to educate, connect and coach entreprenuers, with a big focus on manufacturing.

"Maybe you're not at the place where you need to produce 5,000 units," she said, "maybe you can produce 1,500, but still reach a substantial market."

Rich-Wheeler said they'll hold their annual fundraiser next Friday. And the theme is "Innovation - Imagine It Forward."

"To be an entrepreneur that is going to be needed in five years, in ten years and not just now," she added.

The event takes place at PECO's Energy Hall. The group will honor several entrepreneurs who are embodying innovation, including a 10-year-old and 17-year-old.  Plus, they will kick off efforts for their next pitch sessions, looking for the next round of innovative business owners.
