PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) -- The federal government shutdown doesn't seem to be having an impact on Philadelphia International Airport...yet.

TSA spokesperson Michael Bilello says federal employees at the nation's airports are still on the job.

"This is our third shutdown in a year," Bilello said, "so we have some experience and we take it one day at a time."

Philadelphia International Airport spokesperson Diane Gerace echoes that sentiment.

"The city has about 900 people who work at the airport. There's the TSA, CBP and FAA, they're all federal employees, plus there's private sector employees," Gerace said. "All essential personnel are still on the job and there is no impact to the airport from the federal government shutdown."

But Bilello says just because there's no impact right now, doesn't mean there won't be problems in the future if the shutdown drags on.

"Funds have to be appropriated to make your pay period," he explained. "We made last pay period, but if funds are not appropriated by midweek of this week, we will not make pay on Friday."
