PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A South Jersey doctor is giving back in the way he knows best: with medical care for those in need.

Too many people are living without health insurance but still need good medical care, and Dr. Jubril Oyeyemi is doing his part to help. He's an internal medicine physician at Virtua Health, and says his volunteer team has opened the Cherry Hill Free Clinic for patients needing routine healthcare.

"That's the awesome part of this entire project. It's zero cost to the patients and part of the 'why' for the clinic is that we wanted to remove the barrier of cost. A lot of the patients who come here don't want to go to the emergency room, can't afford a doctor's visit, that's why we exist," Oyeyemi said.

He says one day each weekend, the volunteers treat up to 25 patients for such conditions as asthma, high blood pressure, well visits and sick visits.

The clinic is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Esterbrook Lane.
