Holocaust survivors celebrate new wellness program in Northeast Philly

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Holocaust survivors in Northeast Philadelphia held a celebration for a new wellness program specifically tailored for them. 

Kleinlife hosted a name reveal program geared toward Holocaust survivors from the former Soviet Union.

Program coordinator Mariya Keselman explains these Russian-speaking participants were all born before 1946. 

“This is a wellness program for them to improve their physical, psychological and social well being," Keselman said. 

Lilia Slavutsky is one of the participants of the program. 

“Well, it’s dance classes. The instructor, she speaks English, but if Mariya’s there, she or someone else will translate. When it’s tai chi also, there is a translator," Slavutsky said. 

The new program name, Revive, was announced as participants ate and danced.

“Our participants, they’re really reviving and trying to make the best of each day," said Keselman.
