PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) -- Hundreds laced up their comfy shoes in Manayunk, so they could do a little bit of walking and a whole lot of shopping on Small Business Saturday.

"We are 20 percent off everything full price, 30 percent denim and our cashmere is forty percent off," said Anna Purcell, store owner of Threads on Main.

They are one of 60 businesses along Main Street, in Manayunk, that opened their doors so customers like Yarden Arber could open their wallets.

"I bought a necklace,” she said, “(I’m) just buying stuff for myself.”

For Joy McGowan it was all about the food, "It's important to go to the local restaurants and enjoy the flavor literally.”

Restaurant, Winnie's Manayunk had a full house, a full menu and a full crowd.

"We feed them before they start the festivities,” said owner, Winnie Clowery.

Instead of going online, Dustin Richard says, people decided to get in line.

"You have a much better, more intimate, a more personal experience when you come into a store,” Richard said.

There were plenty of deals to be found on Small Business Saturday, and a boon to the Manayunk economy.
