PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Museum-goers flocked to the Rocky steps Wednesday to officially flip the switch on the holiday season.

Hundreds of families filled the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, hot chocolate in hand, to watch the giant 55-foot Christmas tree light up.

Emily Schreiner, public program curator at the museum, said with the holiday cheer in the air, she would like people to know it's here to stay for the rest of the year.

“We have live music every Friday, which is going to really help bring in the holiday spirit,” she said. “We're pay-what-you-wish here every Wednesday after 5 p.m., and there’s card-making with local artisans every Wednesday night in December.”

On Friday, they're also hosting a "turkey hangover" event with plenty of little gobbler activities all day long.
