PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Instagram decided to go in a new direction Thursday: sideways.

The app suddenly changed its commonplace vertical feed that its users have been accustomed to for years. Now, with a new update, users either tap or swipe to either side to view the next piece of content, similar to how its current Instagram Stories feature works.

If you try to scroll down, you'll be prompted to the comments section.

Not everyone received the updated version, but enough people did, and they took their outrage to other social networking sites.

Instagram head Adam Mosseri said in a tweet that the rollout was meant to be a small test, but the update went out to more users than intended.

The horizontal scroll update has since been rolled back. You can get your old feed back if you close and restart the app.
