PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A singer from South Jersey can now add his name to the impressive list of Grammy winners from the Garden State.

"I couldn't be more excited and proud and humbled," John Brancy told KYW Newsradio.

His baritone voice is the lead in "Fantastic Mr. Fox," which won for best opera recording on Sunday, and he's been celebrating ever since.

There isn't much time to rest for the 31-year-old — he's busy working on an album that he expects to be released later this year.

"It's called "The Journey Home," and it's about the end of World War I and finding home after a crisis," he said.

Brancy mostly lives on the road these days, but he grew up in Mullica Hill and still loves his favorite breakfast spot.

"I will give a shout out for Village Bagel. I always go back when I'm home. It's the best bagel in South Jersey in my opinion," he said.

And while Brancy's voice has taken him around the world, he's still rocking that 609 area code.
