PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — All you have to do is travel into Philadelphia, New York, Washington or any of our major cities to realize that the popularity of electric scooters is growing. But with this growth and popularity is a growth in visits to the emergency room for fractures dislocations and head trauma.

The Centers for Disease Control and prevention has found that head injuries top the list of accident related incidents involving e scooters.

One of the biggest factors is that many of these riders are not wearing helmets and they take little consideration of the fact that they are traveling on busy sidewalks and can collide with a car relatively easy while crossing streets.

Some physicians are warning this could become a public health crisis.
