UPPER DARBY, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — A lockdown in effect Thursday morning at Upper Darby High School has been lifted.

Early reports and social media activity suggested there was a gun on campus. Later it was believed to be a pellet gun. Upper Darby Police Superintendent Mike Chitwood cleared things up when he told CBS3 that a student had a plastic gun, and it appears to have been an oversight on the student's part and brought to school "by mistake."

Police said there was no immediate threat. Dozens of officers remained on the scene for a couple of hours.
