PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) -- A foot pursuit turns deadly after a man opens fire at police and then turns the gun on himself in the Oxford Circle section of the city, officials say.

Philadelphia police say just after 6:30 p.m. officers were responding to call when they were flagged down about a man with a camouflage jacket and a gun.

The officers, police say, found and approached the man along the 5600 block of Miriam Road, before he took off on foot.

During the pursuit, officers say, the man reached into his waistband grabbed a gun and began firing shots at them.

Officials say both of the officers returned fire at the man, before he fled to Bridge Street and Miriam Road, where he would shot himself in the head.

Authorities say the shooting is now being investigated, and there have been no reported injuries to the officers.
