PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Tall ships from around the world are preparing to dock at Philadelphia's waterfront.

This Memorial Day weekend, a group of tall ships from Sail America will conjoin along Penn's Landing for a five-day celebration of Philly's maritime heritage.

Joseph Forkin, president of the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation, said nearly a dozen tall ships from near and far will be there, some of which will be open for tours or offer to take guests on the water.

To ensure a smooth passage, you can book a tour ahead of time online at sailphiladelphia.org.

"You can choose any of the ships that are there, the time that you would like to tour them," Forkin added. "Come down, tour them, and then participate in the festival grounds."

A free concert and a fireworks show are also scheduled along the waterfront on May 28.
