PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney has officially announced he'll run for reelection, saying there's more work to do.

"We haven't completed our projects, completed our goal and we need another four years to do it," Kenney said.

The 99th mayor of Philadelphia, Kenney says he's ready to roll up his sleeves for another term as the city's leader.

Appearing at an event honoring African-American Women of World War II, Kenney says his focus remains on schools.

"We're confident that we can make a real big difference in poverty and education, reducing incarceration, reducing addiction ,and getting some of our people back to normal," he said.

The 61-year-old was elected three years ago, defeating Republican rival Melissa Murray Bailey and succeeded two-term mayor Michael Nutter.
