PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — It was sneak peak of the fanciest Mummers costumes and dance moves inside the convention center Sunday as the annual MummersFest got underway.

Brigades twisted, twirled and turned as they warmed up for the big New Year's Day celebration.

For Nancy Scartozzi, from Ardmore, it was a chance to be "Oh, up close and personal and inside."

It was a back stage pass to watch these troops put their best strut forward; while kids like four-year-old Cordy was busy, "making a hat" at the interactive event.

It was a day filled with games, food, fun, face painting and costume making.

"I wanted to see the mummers, said Deborah Morris from Trenton, New Jersey. “Just always been fascinated the glitz and the glam they’re fun.”

Bag piper Sean Kennan opens the show for his Satin Slipper Club's "Clans of Scotland” them.

“I'm very excited,” he said. “I want them to know that we're the best."

Mummersfest continues Monday.
