PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — In celebration of Black History Month, Mural Arts Philadelphia is featuring a themed mural tour of the city on Sunday.

The Black History Month Mural Arts Tour is the story of the African-American struggle in Philadelphia through art.

"And it really sort of focuses on equality and civil rights and freedom and giving people a wide scope of those images, and how they're sort of depicted in murals in Philadelphia," said Ellen Soloff with Mural Arts Philadelphia.

She says participants on their rented trolley will visit about 30 murals.

"So, many of them are also imagery, they're not as many people, but obviously Dr. J, the Dixie Hummingbirds, Octavius Catto," Soloff said.

Soloff added, "we want people to understand our work and our community process, and that we understand the value and importance of art in the world. And that it is a great way to depict freedom and quality and civil rights and civic leaders in a way that people can relate to."
