FORT WASHINGTON, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) —Officials still don’t know what caused the deaths of an elderly couple found outside their home in Fort Washington, late Tuesday morning.

Ross and Rhoda Woodward were found in the yard of their home on South Bethlehem Pike right by the Turnpike.

Autopsies were inconclusive, and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office says they will have to wait for toxicology reports before they can determine cause and manner of death.

A postal worker called 911 when he saw the bodies in the yard.

Initially their deaths were believed to be violent in nature. But after a SWAT team cleared the house and the property around it, officials determined there were no obvious injuries on the bodies that would have caused their deaths.

Toxicology reports typically take about two weeks.
