PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — NASCAR rolled into Philly with 21 Xfinity Series drivers to promote upcoming races in the Poconos and Dover.

Outside of the Comcast Center on Market Street, a pit grew gave lightening-speed tire changing demonstrations while some of the top drivers signed autographs and chatted up fans.

"We were just in Dover this weekend," said one fan, Aundrey. "Heard NASCAR Day was coming to Philly, I figured I'll come over and meet the drivers, get up close and personal with them, it's great."

"I just love cars," added another fan. "I remember being around my dad when I was younger, going out for rides and I always loved it. NASCAR is my happy place, it always makes me happy."

NASCAR and Xfinity believe there's a significant fan base here waiting to be tapped. And NASCAR driver Daniel Hemric said the Philly takeover, now in it's third year, is yielding results.

"The races we usually promote here is Pocono and Dover," he said, "and those particular race tracks, the grandstands have become more and more full. And that's really cool and rewarding, right? It makes you feel like you're doing something good."

The next big race will be at Pocono on June 2.
