PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) -- After spending over a month at the Navy Yard, its long tentacles hanging out the windows of the building it's been living in, that giant purple sea monster has moved on. But not before crowds gathered Friday night for one last look.

Stephanie Jones knew she'd regret it if she didn't get at least one up close look at the Navy Yard Sea Monster with her daughter.

"We wanted to see it and just take it all in before it left," Jones said.

So what do she think of it?

"I wish they would keep it," Jones said, "and do it all over the city more."'

One of the sea monster's creators, who goes by "Filthy Luker," says returning to Philadelphia at some point is definitely an option -- based on the love the city has shown to this inflatable beast.

"It's just been incredible," Luker said. "People are really warm here, they've really embraced the concept, the whole idea of it, and they've come down in droves. It's been great."

Following a champagne toast, it was lights off for the sea monster. We wish you all the best our dear friend.
