CAMDEN COUNTY, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — A gas main rupture in Winslow Township has forced the neighborhood near South Egg Harbor Road and East Fleming Pike to evacuate.

Camden County spokesman Dan Keashen said the the gas main was struck by a contractor working in the area around 11:30 a.m.

The county has sent buses to the area so neighbors can wait out of the rain.

Keashen said progress is being made in containing the leak.

The county said traffic flow through the intersection will be blocked, but township officials will be on the scene to get drivers through.

South Jersey Gas also has a crew on site. Service may be interrupted for some residences during the work.
