Nelson Agholor's salary now guaranteed with Eagles

PHILADELPHIA (WIP Sportsradio) — The new league year is here, and receiver Nelson Agholor is still on the roster, meaning his full salary is now guaranteed.

Agholor was set to make $9.4 million in 2019  the final year of his rookie contract  with all of it counting against the cap and no dead money if released. The Eagles' decision to carry Agholor into the new league year means he will either be traded, which is unlikely, or remain on the team.

Agholor, 25, was the 20th overall pick by Philadelphia in the 2015 NFL Draft.

In four NFL seasons, Agholor has caught 172 balls for 1,939 yards and four scores. However, most of his production has come over the last two seasons.

During his first two professional campaigns, Agholor caught just 59 combined balls. In 2017, though, he sort of broke out with a 62/768/8 season, averaging a career high 12.4 yards per catch. Last year, Agholor went for 64/736/4.

With Agholor almost certainly back this year, the Eagles now go into the new season with a starting receiver trio of Alshon Jeffery, DeSean Jackson and Agholor.

The Eagles also agreed to acquire DeSean Jackson, the wide receiver from Tampa Bay, along with a 2020 seventh-round draft pick for a sixth-round pick this year. The deal is contingent upon Jackson agreeing to a new contract. Five years ago, then-Eagles coach Chip Kelly released the three-time Pro Bowl pick following his best season.
