NEW JERSEY (KYW Newsradio) — A New Jersey state trooper is under arrest, charged with a sexually explicit e-mail exchange with a woman that allegedly included a lewd photo of an underage girl.

47-year-old Jeffrey Reitz of Williamstown is facing a third-degree count of possession of child pornography, according to the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office.

A criminal complaint states that the incident occurred in late December 2014, but only came to light thanks to evidence seized in a separate investigation conducted by the Camden County Prosecutor.

Reitz, who works in the Commercial Carrier Safety Inspection Unit, has been suspended from his position.

His attorney, Stuart Alterman, told KYW Newsradio his client “is not guilty and we’ll see this case through to his exoneration.”
