PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Looking for a teaching job in Philadelphia?

A local nonprofit aims to list all of them — traditional district, charter, Catholic and private schools — on a single website.

TeachPHL.org has more than 150 teaching jobs posted on the site in these different divisions, which was created by the Philadelphia School Partnership (PSP).

The nonprofit paid around $50,000 to create the site, in the hopes of attracting and retaining teachers.

Laurada Byers, chair of Philadelphia Charters for Excellence, believes the site will help charters find teachers.

"We are really on the same footing as the district because if somebody gets to the website, they're going to find us," she said.

District Superintendent William Hite expects the site to attract more teachers for all types of schools, too.

"Then it just increases not only the candidates but it also increases the quality that we would then all be exposed to," he added.

PSP Executive Director Mark Gleason said the nonprofit took the idea of a single recruiting website from similar efforts in Memphis and Oakland. The site not only contains a job board, but it offers teacher training seminars and certification standards.
