UPPER DARBY, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) -- An investigation is underway after a fire leaves one man dead in Delaware County.

According to officials, the fire broke out inside of a home along the 6900 block of Aberdeen Road Saturday afternoon.

Two men were said to have been working on a car in the garage at the time of the fire, police say.

One of the two men escaped, according to officials, and the other attempted to enter the home to alert his wife.

Police say as he entered the home he was overcome by smoke and never made it past the front door.

The victim's wife did make it out of the home, but he would be pronounced dead on the scene, officials say.

Investigators say the fire caused neighboring homes to be evacuated, and they are still working to determine what caused the blaze.
