Officials: Man stabbed on SEPTA trolley in University City

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A 39-year-old man is in the hospital Sunday morning after being stabbed in the neck and shoulder area on a route 36 SEPTA Trolley.

A SEPTA spokesperson says it happened near 39th and Spruce streets in University City around 1:30 a.m. 

Cops arrested a 24-year-old male suspect who fled the scene. He was caught shortly afterwards just a few blocks away.

The victim was taken to Presbyterian Hospital and is listed in stable condition. 

Witnesses say there was no altercation leading up to the violence. 

It is still under investigation.
