PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Pennsylvania Attorney General has opened up an investigation over the closing of Brightwood Career Institute.

The Institute will be shutting their doors for good this week. Students were notified by email that the school's accreditation was suspended with intent to withdraw due to additional requirements added by the Department of Education.

Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro says this concerns him.

"There are 5 locations across Pennsylvania; 2 in Philadelphia and one in Delaware County. We understand that all of them have shut their doors abruptly and we want to get to the bottom of it," he said.

He says students impacted by the closure should call their hotline right away at 1-800-441-2555, or send an email to [email protected].

"We've opened up a review to determine what exactly happened. We'll be seeing answers from Brightwood; but the most important thing the public can do right now if they have any information, especially if they're students, is to contact us. Let us know what you know. Let us know how much money you're out of pocket and we're going to do everything we can to get answers as quickly as possible," he added.
