PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office is urging Pennsylvania’s Superior Court to retry the case against Philly-born rapper Meek Mill.

The city’s top prosecutor, Larry Krasner, has maintained he will not fight the defense’s push for a new trial for the 32-year-old rapper, after a Court of Common Pleas judge put him in jail in 2017.

The DA touted the same support last April when the case was in the lower court.

The recent legal battle was sparked following Mill’s several violations of probation.

He was released in April 2018, after serving nearly six months in prison.
