PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — As the first snow of the season continues to fall, the City of Philadelphia has issued a Code Blue due to the cold temperatures.

The measure is in effect until Friday at 7 a.m.

A Code Blue is enacted when temperatures feel near or below 20 degrees, according to the city.

Special measures are also taken to keep people who are homeless safe, including activating a 24-hour outreach line to find people who are homeless and provide them with safe, indoor spaces; opening all available beds within the emergency housing network; and allowing homeless people to stay inside emergency housing throughout the day.
