Police search for suspect in sex assaults near Fairmount Park

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) -- Police are searching for a man they believe is involved in a pair of sexual assaults near Fairmount Park in West Philadelphia.

The two incidents involve three victims, and police say the man in both cases is described as a tall, thin, black man with a grey beard between the ages of 40 and 50 years old. 

Both attacks occurred in the early morning hours before sunrise and both follow a similar pattern of violation, followed by theft.

The first incident took place on Tuesday. Police say a woman was taken by gunpoint into Fairmount Park from the 4700 block of South Concourse Drive. She told police she was sexually assaulted, before having her Beats headphones and Apple iPhone stolen from her by the man.

The second incident, on Thursday, started at a gas station in the 4800 block of West Girard Avenue. Police say a man approached a woman who was pumping gas. He allegedly forced her back into her car at gunpoint, made her and another woman who was in the car drive to an unknown location, where he sexually assaulting them and stole $420 in cash from the women.
