PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Philadelphia Soul start the final third of their regular season on Saturday with a road game against the Destroyers in Columbus.

The Soul improved to 4-4 on the season this past weekend with an impressive 54-29 win over Atlantic City. The Soul jumped out to a 20-0 lead and never looked back.

"It felt great," Soul head coach Clint Dolezel said of the blowout win. "Honestly, we hadn't had that all year. It's really hard to beat somebody as bad as we did. The timing rules have changed, the possessions are very limited, only had eight possessions, scored on all eight of them. Defense got four stops, had them in third and fourth down a total of 16 times. That's really hard to do. So we showed up well."

The win over Atlantic City gave the Soul a one game lead for the fourth and final playoff spot with four games remaining. They also own the tiebreaker over the Blackjacks.

It's been tough sledding for Columbus this season. The Destroyers are last in the AFL with a record of 1-7. One of those losses came against the Soul back on June 1, Philadelphia winning at the Wells Fargo Center, 47-35.

"They're pretty much the same team," Dolezel said. "We're a little bit different. We had some game plan in that we didn't get a chance to run against them so we'll try to filter that in this week. It's all about up front pressure and the secondary playing well like they did last week."

Saturday night's game gets underway at 7:00 p.m.
