PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Mother Nature hasn’t been generous to Black Friday bargain hunters, especially the ones who are doing their shopping outdoors in these chilly conditions at Philadelphia’s Christmas Village.

Liz Karrara will be the first to tell you, “It’s cold. I feel like everyone is bundled up.”

But with a hot drink in hand, she says she wasn’t about to let the temperatures ruin her shopping experience.

“Definitely festive and merry, happy to be here,” she said. “I feel like everyone still made it out. And I feel like everyone else has a hot drink in their hand too.”

Reporter: Does the cold add to the experience?

“Yeah I think so,” she said. “If it was 70 degrees it wouldn’t feel right.”

Vendor, Serge Isakoff, agrees the cold does make it fell like late December.

“People are still out in the streets,” he said. “They come here for the atmosphere. It’s a Christmas feeling”

Isakoff says if he had to guess, the crowd size on this Black Friday is probably down a little bit than in years past.
