PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Phillies announced plans for a celebration of life ceremony for chairman David Montgomery, who died Wednesday after a battle with cancer.

The ceremony will be held at Citizens Bank Park on Thursday, June 6 at 3:05 p.m. Gates will open at 2 p.m. The ceremony is free and open to the public. Free parking will also be available in lots at Citizens Bank Park for attendees.

“One of David’s favorite times of the year was the MLB draft,” said David’s wife Lyn Montgomery. “We couldn't think of a better way to celebrate David’s life, and his love of the game, than to invite his friends, colleagues and Phillies fans into his second home at the conclusion of the draft.”

The Montgomery family has requested donations to the Phillies Charities, Inc. in lieu of flowers.
