PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Phillies are extending the protective netting at Citizens Bank Park next season.

The Phillies confirm the 12-foot-high netting will extend beyond the end of each dugout for 2020. It's undetermined, though, whether the netting will reach all the way to the foul poles.

The netting currently stretches between sections 115 and 132, from dugout to dugout. An NBC report on fans injured by foul balls said the Phils would join the Chicago White Sox in extending the netting all the way to each foul pole.

But a team spokeswoman said while the Phillies do intend to lengthen the safety screen next year, it hasn't been decided exactly how far.

The netting was raised from 8 to 12 feet high at the beginning of the 2018 season.
