PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Organizers of Philly Beer Week are making final preparations for the 10-day event that attracts beer lovers from all over the world.

An official mayoral proclamation kicked off the 11th edition of the event, which describes itself as "not your typical bro-like beer event."

It's a week dedicated to lovers of great beer all around, and with hundreds of events to choose from, you'll need to pace yourself.

Events range from the Hog Tour, an Olympic-style bar crawl; to Opening Tap, the kick-off party June 1 at The Fillmore; or Art on Beer, a moderated panel discussion featuring the artists behind some popular beer labels.

Opening Tap follows the day-long shenanigans of the Hammer of Glory relay, essentially a citywide bar crawl that ends at the main event.

This year features a half-dozen new brews like Brotherly Suds, a hoppy pilsner produced by Tom Kehoe of Yards, who channels Homer Simpson for inspiration on the first day of Beer Week.

"The great thing is the day we brew it, we all get together, we have donuts and we make the beer," he laughed.
