Philadelphia police officer arrested on assault, tampering with records charges

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A Philadelphia police officer has been arrested on multiple charges including tampering with public records and simple assault.

Sgt. Jason Reid was on the force for more than 15 years.

Authorities say he has been charged with tampering with public records or information, unsworn falsification to authorities, simple assault, false reports to law enforcement, and obstructing administration of law or other governmental function.

The 42-year-old was most recently assigned to the 35th District. 

Authorities say he's been suspended for 30 days with the intent to dismiss.
