Police: Group of armed men shot 5 people, including 5-year-old boy

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police are looking for a group of men who shot five people, including a young boy, in North Philadelphia Saturday night. 

The shooting happened after 11 p.m. at 20th Street and Susquehanna Avenue.

Police Capt. Frank Palumbo said four armed men went up to a group, and then the shots rang out.

"They fired into a crowd of people that was on the west side of 20th Street," he said. "There's about 41 total cartridge casings."

A 5-year-old boy was one of the five people shot. Police said he was hit in the knee and officers got him in a cop car right away to take him to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children.

Police confirmed the boy and two others are listed in stable condition, while two other victims are in critical condition. 

A motive is not clear, and police encourage anyone with information about this shooting to call 911.
