Police investigate after driver struck, injured 2 pedestrians in Ocean City

OCEAN CITY, NJ (KYW Newsradio) — Authorities are investigating after an auto-pedestrian accident leaves two people hospitalized down the Jersey shore. 

Officials say at around 5:30 p.m. both the Ocean City Police and Fire Department responded to a motor accident at the corner 8th Street and Bay Avenue.

While making a left turn onto Bay Avenue, police say, the driver struck a 47-year-old male and 40-year-old female.

Both victims were transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City, but their conditions are still unknown at this time.

The driver was only identified by police as a 48-year-old female. Investigators did say that the driver remained on the scene following the accident.

No charges have been filed at this time. 

The accident, police say, is now being investigated by the Ocean City Police Department's Traffic Safety Unit and the Ocean City Police Department's Detective Bureau, with assistance from the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office's Fatal Accident Investigation Unit.
