PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Police are investigating an accident that killed a pedestrian late Thursday night.

The victim was struck along Roosevelt Boulevard near Levick Street. Chief Inspector Scott Small said it happened at about 10:30 p.m. in the southbound lane.

"The driver remained on the scene. He did not appear to be impaired. He had a driver's license and registration, so at this time it appears to be just a tragic accident because the driver of the striking vehicle is cooperating with police," he said.

The driver told police the 24-year-old victim walked right out into traffic. His identity has not been released.

No charges are expected to be filed against the driver.
