PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police say they're investigating a bizarre shooting early Monday morning in the Kensington section of the city, where a man and woman were found shot dead inside a running car.

Police believe a 32-year-old woman, who was found shot in the arm and wandering East Tioga Street near J Street about 3 a.m., is connected to the couple's deaths.

She is receiving treatment at Temple University Hospital. Homicide detectives want to interview her again and consider her a person of interest.

She told the officers she was hit by gunfire at F Street near Ontario Street a few blocks away.

"So when police went to look for a scene they found an Accura hatchback with a Delaware license plate parked on Ontario at F Street with the engine running. When they looked inside, they saw two victims," Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

He said a woman in her 30s was slumped over in the driver's seat with a gunshot wound to the head, and a man in his 30s or 40s with at least one wound to the torso was found in the hatchback area.

Small said medics pronounced the couple dead at the scene.

Police don't have identities at this point, but Small says it appears, based on the evidence, that the gunfire happened inside the car.

"We did find some ballistic evidence inside of that vehicle with the two victims," he said. "There are no bullet holes going through the doors or windows."

Police are talking to the owners of neighborhood home and business video cameras to see if there's anything that can be recovered to aid in their investigation.
