PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police say they arrested a 14-year-old boy for shooting a 15-year-old boy he was hanging out with on Monday night.

Police say the shooter and victim are aquaintances, and both were with at least one other person on Cherry Street, near North Conestoga Street in West Philadelphia. Investigators say the 14-year-old fired a single shot around 11:30 p.m., and the 15-year-old boy was hit in the upper-right side of his chest.

He was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and is listed in critical condition. Witnesses say the shooter ran off, and eventually police were able to find his house and arrested him.

Police haven't released a motive.
