PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Authorities are searching for the driver who hit and severely injured a Philadelphia man along Broad Street early Wednesday morning.

Just before 1:30 a.m., a 59-year-old man was walking near Broad Street at Clearfield Street, when he was hit by gray Dodge Challenger sedan, which was speeding.

The driver continued north on Broad Street, leaving the victim in the road.

The man was eventually taken to the hospital with severe head injuries and a broken leg. He is in critical condition.

Detectives found a missing side view mirror from the car along the road, and they were able to pin down the car that hit the victim.

Police say not only does the car have a missing mirror, but it would also have damage to the front driver side. They urge anyone who may see a car with similar damage to call them.
