SOUTHWEST PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Authorities are investigating a double murder in Southwest Philadelphia early Sunday morning, just blocks from Bartram's Garden.

Philadelphia police say a 28-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were walking together along Elmwood Avenue near Lindbergh Boulevard around 2:15 a.m., when an argument erupted between them and another man in the area.

Moments later, the man was struck in the chest, and the woman was shot several times through her chest and back.

Both were taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where they were both declared dead.

Detectives are now combing the area, speaking to possible witnesses and trying to figure out the relationship between the victims and the shooter.

No arrests have been made.
