PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A man is dead after being shot after he and his girlfriend got into an argument with a group of people outside of a Northern Liberties mini-market.

Police say the 25-year-old man and his girlfriend got into the argument outside that market at 10th and Brown streets a little after midnight. Eventually, the man and his girlfriend got in a car and drove off, but the group from the store caught up to their vehicle near 6th and Callowhill streets, and someone or a group of people fired more than 15 shots into the couple's car.

Some of those shots ripped through the man, who was sitting in the passenger seat while his girlfriend drove.

She rushed over to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, but the victim was pronounced dead a short time later.

While Police do not have any security camera video to work with, they are trying to identify the people in the car who opened fire. Investigators say about 20 homeless people who shelter near the Vine Street Expressway were being interviewed as potential witnesses.
