PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Philadelphia police sources say the father of the teen who was shot and killed by his twin brother earlier this month is under arrest in connection to the shooting death.

Authorities say Aleem Gillard, father of 18-year-old Suhail Gillard, was taken into custody late Thursday afternoon in Northwest Philadelphia, inside a house on Chew Avenue.

Aleem is expected to face involuntary manslaughter and gun charges after murder charges were dropped against the victim’s twin brother, Faayadh Gillard, Wednesday morning.

Prosecutors had charged Faayadh last week and then said after a careful investigation, they determined Faayadh mistakenly pulled the trigger — calling it a horrific and tragic accident.

Suhail was shot once in the chest after authorities say the teens' father showed them the gun.
