PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The Delaware River Port Authority says real-time train information on PATCO platforms is still about a year away.

Information screens have been installed on all of PATCO's platforms, but there's not much information on them so far.

PATCO General Manager John Rink says they may soon display train schedules.

"We've been working with our corporate communications that handles the design and we hope to have the schedule uploaded up by the end of this week," Rink said.

But real-time train information, such as a countdown clock until the next train arrives, is awaiting integration with the SCADA system that controls how fast trains run.

That system is currently being replaced, says DRPA CEO John Hanson.

"It's being upgraded in a way that will allow our signs and the system to know where every train is," Hanson said.

Rink says the control system should be upgraded by March.

But he says it could be this time next year before the real-time train information is displayed on platform monitors.
